Cherry On Top

Thursday, September 30, 2010

I received this award from Keva, a sweet and talented fellow blogger.  In honor of this award, I have to share a photo, reveal 3 things about myself that you probably don't already know, and nominate 5 people whose blogs I find inspirational.

I usually don't like photos of me, but this one isn't too bad.

3 things you don't know about me:
1. I love to play games.  Board games, card games, and especially word games like Boggle and Scrabble.
2. My dream vacation would be to go to New Zealand.
3. I have a huge sweet tooth!

5 blogs that have that something extra:
Andrea Joseph: I just love her illustrations.  They are so full of detail!
Fiona Richards: She finds some of the most beautiful and inspiring objects out there from jewelry to furniture to stationery.
Regina Mangum:  Regina makes such creative and beautiful cards.

Il Papiro

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

My mother and father-in-law just returned from a trip to Italy.  They had a wonderful time and my mother-in-law took about 2,000 pictures while they were there!  They brought back all of these beautiful hand colored papers from Il Papiro in Venice.  The tan and yellow ones are large, about 3ft x 2ft.  The others vary in size from about 8x10in. to 5x7in.
They are so gorgeous!

Little Trick or Treater

I love this little scene!  I turned the Boards and Beams house into bricks with a black liner pen and my copics.  I used the Tiny Treats Halloween treat bag to cut out these mini pumpkins.  I stamped the monster and then put the ghost over him to make it look like a little kid in a costume.  I had a lot of fun making this card.  Good thing I have 5 nephews, it gives me a reason to make so many Halloween cards;)
Have a great day!

Papertrey Ink September Blog Hop Challenge

Saturday, September 25, 2010

These vintage inspired Christmas ornaments were created using the umbrellas stamps from Scattered Showers.

I have learned so many things from fellow stampers.  From techniques to color combinations.  From new product lines to must have tools.  From challenges to inspiration.  But, the most important thing I have learned from all of my fellow stampers is how versatile all these products we collect are! Whether you are limited on funds for your stamping supplies or just like to make the most of your purchases, there is more to our supplies than meets the eye.  I love to play with my supplies, often without the intention of creating a final product.  I find it so satisfying when I can learn to see things in a different way.  I find that for me, this only (or most often) comes from experimenting.  I have often gone to my favorite blogs, and there are many, and said ,"Wow, I never would have thought to use it that way!".  I find that so inspiring!!  So, thanks everyone for sharing your creativity with me.  It has made me push myself to become more creative too.  Enjoy the Hop today:)

I Want To Suck Your Blood

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

For this card I used the very same layout as a previous Halloween card I made. I wanted to make another Halloween card for one of my other nephews so I just changed the focal image. It made this card come together very quickly, which I love on a weeknight when I don't have as much time as I would like to sit down and create.
Made it over the hump! The weekend is right around the corner. Friday is Ryan's birthday. Should be fun!
