Kitchen Remodel

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

We have lived in our house for almost 4 years. We are finally ready to tackle the kitchen. We have put it off until now. We had been working on the rest of the downstairs first, saving money for the biggest project. We started ripping up the poorly installed tile and it revealed this beauty, brown and yellow linoleum. Gorgeous huh? The previous owners installed plywood over linoleum under tile that wasn't grouted. I don't know what they were thinking. The kitchen floor is currently a slight step up from the hallway and dinning room. When we are done, it will flow seamlessly from on room to another, all hardwood. I think in one of the pictures you can see our awesome 80's cabinets. We do a lot of the work ourselves and we are getting pretty good at it. Since buying this house I have learned how to install hardwood, hang, tape, and sand drywall, finish trim work, and case doorways. Luckily I have a very handy husband. We have saved ourselves a lot of money this way. It has been fun too. We have made some mistakes along the way, but all in all I am proud of the work we have done together.
